Terms of Service

Last updated: 15 October 2026

⚠ Draft for review. A plain-language draft written to match how Aquagent actually works. Have it reviewed by a lawyer before launch and replace the bracketed items. It is not legal advice.

These terms cover your use of Aquagent, operated by Aquagence LLC. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't, don't use the service.

1. The beta

Aquagent is a private beta. It is free, incomplete, and it will change. Features may be added, altered or removed; there may be bugs and downtime. Please don't make Aquagent your only copy of anything you can't afford to lose — keep your original manuals and important records elsewhere too.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@aquagent.ai if you think someone else has access. You must be at least 16.

3. Your content stays yours

Everything you put into Aquagent — manuals, logs, notes, photos, video, voice — remains your property. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display it solely to provide the service to you. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload. Manufacturer manuals and similar documents remain the property of their copyright holders; you're responsible for holding a legitimate copy.

4. Fair use

Don't use Aquagent to break the law, upload malware, attempt to reach other users' data, resell or redistribute the service, scrape it, or reverse-engineer it. We may suspend accounts that do.

5. About the assistant — read this one

Aquagent retrieves information from material you provide and generates answers from it. It is designed to cite sources and to say when it doesn't know. It is nonetheless an assistant, not an authority.

Always verify safety-critical information against the manufacturer's documentation and qualified marine professionals before acting on it. Aquagent does not replace a licensed mechanic, engineer, surveyor, or your own judgement as master of the vessel. We are not liable for decisions made in reliance on generated output.

6. Vessel telemetry

Where you connect a NMEA 2000 gateway, Aquagent records readings for logging, baselining and reference. It is not a monitoring, alarm, security or safety system and must not be relied on as one. Connectivity at sea is intermittent; data may be delayed, incomplete or absent.

7. Availability

We aim to keep Aquagent running but make no uptime guarantee during the beta. If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and a way to retrieve your data.

8. Ending it

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. On termination we delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Warranties and liability

Aquagent is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aquagence LLC's total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months or [ US$100 ]. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or vessel downtime.

10. Changes to these terms

Material changes will be notified by email to account holders and the date above will change. Continuing to use Aquagent after that means you accept the update.

11. Governing law

Governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. [ Add venue / dispute resolution on legal review. ]
